the daily mommy workout

This was before my husband somehow talked me into doing his P90X plyometrics with him. My legs are jello.

Motherhood sometimes is not a job for the physically weak.

Mom's daily workout:

Possible pre-workout: Carry around 0-25lb.+ weight in front of body for 9 months

Thighs: Drop your keys twice on your way to the car. Squat down and pick them up with added weight(s): baby in arms (20lbs.) + purse + target bags. Say "dang it" while doing so.

Cardio: Run after child while: shopping, church, or in restaurant

Shoulders & Arms: Take infant in the infant car seat in and out of the car and carry around for at least 15 minutes while trying to run errands. Amount of sets is determined by amount of errands.

Core: Sit on your bed and rock/bounce baby at least 20 minutes or until baby is sleeping.

Resistance: No resistance bands needed. Simply change a diaper of a kid who doesn't want their diaper changed.

Abs: Lay down on back and lay baby on shins. Extend shins outward resulting in engaged abs. Now make airplane noises and baby will love you.

Pliés for Buns: Pick up items off the floor while wearing baby Bjorn/carrier without dumping the baby out. This forces you to do pliés.

Arms: Throw baby in air 10 times. Works biceps and triceps (enjoy giggles and funny faces)

Additional Arms: Accidentally forget your stroller and hold baby on one hip for long periods of time. Or while person talks your ear off and won't stop. Be sure to switch or you're going to have one buff right arm.

To increase workout intensity, feed baby lots of food or add one or more children into the mix.

Is this not the truth? Any others that I left out?

Yes, this is a definite work out. My arms turn to jello when I do this to my little 20 pound chunker. It's definitely doing wonders on you. You look great!

Too funny! Very true, though! Anyone who's around young kids enough knows they're a work out. But at least you don't have to feel guilty for not making it to the gym!

Love it!! My girl isn't walking yet, so I don't quite get the cardio, but I for sure get the fun of carrying that dang car seat! And the weight is constantly increasing, you can never get used to it!

This made me laugh. It is so true though. I am not a mom, BUT I babysit and sometimes I hurt the next day. Mothers are so strong (multiple meanings, of course)

Amen to this workout for sure!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be very honest, ever since having my four daughter's it has always been hard to take time to hit the gym like I use to, so instead of not working out at all, and not feeling good about myself, I did many of the things you listed, and I have always stayed fit!!!!! I do many things involving my girls to keep my body firm and in shape!!!!! Loved this post!!!!!

k what about "sprints" when you see the babe put something in there mouth from far away (like a rock) and you have to run over there before he gets it. Or if he is about to fall. My reaction time is getting much faster.

Or the "bend n snap" maybe not really a snap but when B goes down i am bending over picking up everything he just took out. And then when he wakes up the same routine happens all over again. which leads to more bending...

Or coordination. I am mastering the skill of doing everything with one hand.

These are all great linds. I especially love the keys dropping getting everything out of the car one...happens to me daily. Keep all your fun posts coming.

this is HILARIOUS and very informative for me, a soon-to-be mama! we took a four-hour baby-care class last night, which loaded us with tons of info on the different kinds of poop and when to call the doctor and how to safely install a car seat... but i wish there had been a little of this thrown in there, too. :)
