It's 11:11pm, make a wish.
I lay here pretending I'm really good at going to bed early but lets face it, I'm not.
A favorite quote of mine:
Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
-Benjamin Franklin
And in discovering the author of the last quote, I found that even Aristotle advised early rising (assuming going to bed early as well) and said, "It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom."
I told my husband I would honestly try to go to bed when he does which is a great idea. Except that I was born a night owl. You see, once ten o'clock rolls around, I get an extra boost of energy that makes me want to clean the house, paint my nails and online shop all at once. Baby is asleep, husband is sleeping too, my time!!
I realize an earlier sleep time will only be beneficial (especially since I have a baby bird that wakes up around 8). I have nothing against it, it's just so different from how I've lived—against the natural and possibly untamed me.
And you see, I am doing my very, very best not to let my mind start thinking of all the projects I have to do tomorrow or allow creative ideas run through my mind. So I lay here reading to tire my eyes. From night owl to early bird, I'm trying. Really, I am...

That's funny I am exactly the same.
I am such a night owl. Lately though to my job and also my yoga teacher, who always says, getting up extra early is so good for you, I am really trying.
Last night again was a fail...I was lying in bed being awake for a long time.
But sometimes it works, I will keep trying.
Good luck ; )
I totally understand! I am not necassarly a might owl, but I'm definitely not a morning person. And like you said, it's my time!! Maybe someday i can change..
I used to be a night owl. Then I got a grown up job and had to be up at 6am every day. That puts you bed pretty early every night. If you can go off of less sleep, then use that alone time at night and enjoy it.

I ALWAYS get the urge to clean at night!
Since I was 10 I've always done 11:11 :) And I'm definitely a night owl that happens to me all the time!

Here is another... Night owl, I mean. I wanted to change that (My little boy wakes up around 7.00?!), but I've kind of gave up. :/
Oh I know how this feels! No matter how little sleep I had the night before, I'm still very awake at night. Ha! and I hate to force myself to sleep.

ugh it's so hard to go to bed when your husband does, or vice versa. I'm converting Ben to a morning bird instead of a night owl. It's rough.
good luck!

I'm the same way! It's hard to change my ways when I am so productive during those late hours. I get so much done.
i'm a fellow night out with ya girl! :) I feel so bad when the hubs goes to bed all on his lonesome...but you're so right...it's precious me-time that us mama's don't get much of :) *cheers* to working on better habits :)
It is nearly impossible to go to bed early, I agree! I get that same burst of energy and my brain goes a mile a minute - how can we sleep when this is going on?
I am the epitome of a night owl most nights! I get exhausted around 8 or nine..but when 10 rolls around...I get that extra boost and I am set and ready to go! I usually don't get to sleep till 2 and I'm up at 6....umm...problematic!
me too!!! i am definitely a night owl but no one in my family is!!!! plus i love the morning!!!! i could stay up late but try not to. :P your blog is great!!
I can't figure out what I am! I hate waking up early but I love morning time with my breakfast and coffee. I also get tired really early and am horrible about being productive at night, but can manage to stay up until the wee hours of the morning perusing blogs or watching Friends reruns. I think there is a little sweet spot in the middle of the day. Call me an afternoon dove ;).
We love your post!

you may have insomnia, having difficulty sleeping at night. does it happen all the time? have you asked the advise of a doctor about how to resolve that? i just hope that you are not having that much trouble regarding it.. enjoyed your blog.. following you now.. hope you could visit my blog too... kissess!!!!
Good luck. I am not a natural early bird and I have tried really hard to be one. I would like to rise a 6:30am every morning and have a nice relaxing morning before I head off to work. Instead, I hate the snooze at least 10 times before waking up minutes before I need to leave. Let me know if anything works for you.
I can totally relate, I'm such an owl and never a morning person :( and being a stay at home mom the lone time I can get is the time when my baby sleeps.
I am the SAME way! And so is my husband, but unfortunately he actually has to get up really early... :)
I am the exact same way. That late night alone time is much needed sometimes and totally worth a little tiredness in the morning!
I get that same burst of late night energy. By nature I love staying up late, but I also love feeling like I get a head start on the world when I wake up extra early (if I can get myself out of bed.) It's a constant battle though to make sure I get enough sleep and I am always making myself go to bed earlier than I actually want to!!
You clean at 10 p.m. too? We are the same. (Add on top of that a disagreement between my husband and I, and I enter the deep-cleaning mode.) The early bird days of my youth are way behind me.
