a little cupcake hunt with two boys

Happy Friday! I wanted to leave you with (sadly my one and only post for this week... where did this week go?) a few photos of our little playtime from yesterday with our friends. We ate, swam in the 80+ degree weather, went on a cupcake hunt with a child that was tired (because his mother was postponing his nap [note cell phone in mouth mom-I'm-going-crazy look]) and we even found a single fall leaf. It doesn't look like fall weather is getting any closer but our mornings are getting a tiny bit cooler! Could it be near?? Let's hope so! I want to wear a few layers! Have a wonderful weekend!

in the last week...

In the last week I have...

-pulled a kernel of corn, a black been and a green bean (with some length) out of Krew's nose. This has been a new thing. (no one warned me about this.)
-asked by a man at my door if he could speak to the parent of the home. (really, do I look that young?)
-been asked by the Target employee (while doing some returns) if I have someone else do my shopping. (what does this even mean??? Obviously I was doing too many returns.)
-received a sweet surprise of flowers from my man. (I'm a seriously lucky gal...)
-bought a new can opener that makes me almost as happy as those ^ flowers.
-been waiting to go back-to-school shopping. My internal timer is going off like crazy but I'm not in school anymore. But... I still want to go shopping. boo.
-named a playlist in my Spotify as "choo choo". I think I am officially in toddler land. (Can my friend's see that?? Oh, boy... that's embarrassing.)
-I have been dying over the reviews of NY Fashion week's shows and spring previews. (I need an orangey lip color stat!)
-been blessed with the best beach buddy. And he's cute, happy, and little.

a blacks beach adventure

(photos above taken at windnsea beach before our hike)

If you live in southern California, you'll know that it was 100+ degrees on Friday and we were all melting. And if you're from somewhere else, now you know. Krew and I made the quickest, smartest, and coolest move and went straight to mother ocean and her somewhat cool breeze to rid us of our sweatiness.
Near 5pm, Cameron was off work and ready to meet us at a different beach, Blacks beach, for a little surf. Parking was awful and instead of taking the usual paved trail, we took a detour on the hatchi trail (HIKE!). Cameron carried Krew and his other baby (his board) and ventured down as I tried to manage my beach bag and myself as I laughed and took photos. Cameron did warn me it might be a little crazy. But the man wanted to surf!! So off the Rondos go! To find the surf! Nothing will stop us! And nothing did! We had a few slips and one fall on the bottom but husband, child, board, and wife all made it through. It was actually quite beautiful seeing the afternoon sun on those sandy cliffs. I always enjoy little natural parts of coastal California.

And to live up to the reputation of Blacks Beach (it once was a nudist beach), I even got a nice view of a 50+ yr. old man running on the beach nude. Completely nude. And he ran by me twice as I tried not to look up while hide my laughing. What was his motive?? Who knows... He wasn't even holding a back up pair of shorts or anything if he happened to change his mind. And yes, I snapped a picture. Be grateful it wasn't the frontal. Later, Krew decided to join in the nudist festivities! Yay for blacks beach!

sweets and beauty secrets

At a little playgroup I attend, we ladies were talking (while the kiddies were playing) and decided we were all due for a little girls night. Since I have been kind of dying to throw a summer party in my little courtyard area, I decided to invite my ladies from playgroup over to my place to share beauty secrets and sweets! We each brought a beauty secret of ours to randomly swap with someone else. It was so much fun! We answered silly questions and even got some live tutorials! There was lots of dry shampoo, nail polish, and bold lipsticks passed around. One of the best tips from the night is instead of buying an eye shadow lid primer, use chapstick! Chapsticks (like softlips or burt's bees) work just as well in keeping eye shadow in place and keeping the color truer... but make sure to stay away from the minty ones. Brilliant, huh?!
We all had such a fun night! Thanks playgroup ladies! I think we were all bummed it had to come to an end.

oh the funny things you do

Our funny little guy makes us laugh all the time. We sing the alphabet together and his version tends to be more of a eeh-ooh-bee-dee-kee and whatever other sounds he can make up. He constantly tells his mommy and daddy that they have a "big nose". Thanks, Krew. He of course claims to have a "baby" sized nose. He is a rather particular little one. He likes doors shut (being in an old house we have lots of doors), things in their place, and he'll even let me know when he wants my hair "out"-- he doesn't like it in a bun. And this boy is loud. I'm not sure who gets that from. :) He loves to take pictures all by himself, whether it is with my phone or camera. He's getting pretty good. (The picture with the lonely monkey was captured by Krew.)

He loves his mokey.
And yes, he enjoys being naked.
And he exclaims, "Nakey!"

past funny things by Krew posts here and here.

showtime!

As I posted a month ago, my brother Jeff (Live Like Giants) had a show and it was awesome! Watch the little overview video above (that's Jeff's song in the background), you can quickly catch Krew and I working the front admission table. Jeff and his band were incredible as usual! His new songs are awesome and you can purchase them here on iTunes. He's moved to Hawaii and I don't doubt that people will love his laid-back, surf music on the island just as they do here!
