malasadas

It is so funny to see the huge smile that comes across Cameron's face when he comes up to this little red and white striped truck.

The smile was probably a combination of his 5 hours of good surf that day and the malasadas.

Beast to the Beauty

3 years ago... I owed my parents some manual labor and so they forced me to learn how to antique furniture. How grateful I am for that! They had a bedroom set that was a "honey" outdated wood look and decided they would let me mess around with their furniture.
I ended up loving it and finished 2 large dressers, a head board, and two nightstand drawers. I wanted to do more but just never got around to it.

Recently... I saw a $10 sturdy, solid wood chair on craigslist and figured I could do a little something with it for fun.

Bought $3 of fabric and gave it a little love...

We had it around our house for a little bit, we really liked it and we were thinking about keeping it but...

I sold it tonight for $40 via craigslist. Sweeeet.

Birthday cakes, candy, and s'mores!

I guess I have been MIA for a month in the blog. We both have been so busy but having lots of fun as we go! We've had midterms (not so much fun), our parents visiting, our calling... we've been some very busy people.

As always, we love it when Shannon and Allan come to visit!

It was Shannon's birthday and it was so fun to celebrate with her!

Cameron and Allan got in some good surf...
We were able to take some time out from our studies to enjoy the island with them.

After the Rondo's left, it was Halloween time!
Cameron and I love our calling and had a great time throwing the Ward Halloween Party!

Once it was finally Halloween day, Cameron and I were pooped! We enjoyed the day going to the beach and then finishing it off with bowling and a bonfire.

The only picture of bowling that we got was me with the cheating ramp.
It worked like a charm.

Steve told some awesome ghost stories to get us in the Halloween mood! "SNAP!"

Cameron & me

We had yummy s'mores and rees'mores (reeses + s'mores) and some other friends joined the bonfire later.

Cameron really enjoyed his burnt marshmallow s'mores. (notice marshmallows on lips)

What a fun Halloween!

lingering longer

Oh Jeanne.
Today she sends me an email saying that this would be her kind of Barbie.
haha... she's funny.
A few weeks ago I came into work and she told me she tried to trim off an inch of her long gray hair (because I refused to do it for her). When she showed me what she did I saw about six inches cut off in a completely diagonal line. I tried not to laugh and she realized previous to our conversation that she thought she trimmed off too much. Luckily her hair is usually pinned up in a clip and the diagonal hairdo remains hidden.
I feel like a hypocrite because I keep saying we're going to move out but... we're staying. Once again, things worked out perfectly and my classes were changed for Winter and now create the perfect working schedule to stay there. Unless my schedule changes from now until registration, we're planning on staying a while.

A week in San Diego

Saturday, September 12, 2009

so today was a fun one. Lindsay and i went to ponto to hang out/watch the carlsbad wards surf contest. It was pretty fun. My bro won so that was sic. I broke my other brothers board so that sucked. A little later lindsay went shopping with her mom and sister and got some nice clothes from old navy and target.

Sunday, September 6, 2009

So lindsay and I have been pretty busy with school and work. Despite our busy schedules, we have found time on the weekends to do something fun and spend time with each other. Yesterday we went for a walk on the beach, tanned on the north shore and had a blast swimming with each other at rocky point, pushing each other into the small waves flopping on the beach to body surf them.
The saturday before was a blast too, we went to the north shore, surfed/ lindsay tanned with erin nelson and then we went and ate at Buca de bepo, it was really good. I love my wife, she is soo fun.

Furniture stores for fun

One great part of my job (other than getting paid to eat out at really nice restaurants) is the errands I do with Jeanne. Jeanne is curious and an explorer. She loves to find stores, boutiques and warehouses with deals and items you can't find anywhere else for the best deal.

Today we went on the lookout for a new office chair. She had me run into Pacific Home. I know you have all seen it off Ward Ave. downtown but I've never been in it! It is far from fitting the student income but it is so fun to look. Who ever is picking the merchandise for this store has tapped into my mind of everything I want! The merchandise is light, beachy, and breezy with some really fun prints.
The website doesn't do the justice. Next time you're in Ward area, go in and take a look for fun. It's right across the street from Ross and parking is easy.

Another place she took me was the Gentry Pacific Design Center (Honolulu- on Nimitz just pass Kmart) and there I fell in love with Baik Designs. They specialize in Indonesian furniture and all the pieces are so unique.
Once again, the website doesn't do the justice (nor does this picture)

Other fun places to look are Inspiration on Kapiolani and C.S. Wo off Beretania. I always enjoy envisioning my future house and what I would pick out for it.

I saw this family dinning room table at Inspiration and fell in love with it. The chairs and benches are leather and different colors. Probably like $15,000...eek!

Now, only if I could get Jeanne to live in San Diego! (totally joking) To try the best restaurants and all the hidden secrets-- that would be awesome.
