Priceless

For some reason I forgot that I actually kept a "blog" all throughout my Junior and Senior year of high school. It never registered because I don't think the term "blog" was really used, it was "Livejournal".
So tonight I logged in and I found this little piece of treasure and it is entertaining! My 16/17 year old mind is so funny and is extremely stereotypical teenager. The Livejournal is full of mine and Cameron's bf/gf relationship, getting sick of parents/being grounded, my busy life on student council & high school, and what ever came to my teenage mind. I can't believe I hadn't found this sooner because it is delightful.
Oh, and this is my picture for my profile:
Cam and I 5 yrs ago. This is priceless. I'm going to have to print this blog out for good laughs and memories.

fun fourth

What is a Fourth of July without sunshine, watermelon, and fireworks?
Luckily, we got them all.

Cameron and I headed to the beach with all of our stuff, cookies, umbrella, sunscreen, etc and went with our friends, the Nelsons over to Sunset beach. It was perfectly sunny-- no clouds overhead. Since there are no waves right now on the n. shore, the guys went out spear fishing for a bit while the girls attempted to get a shade darker. Our dumb beach umbrella decided to fly up several times and eventually broke. The sun was beaming and towards the end of the day Erin and I draped ourselves with towels to keep the sun off our skin-- it was intense! Cameron and I had a great time! Of course our sunburns didn't appear for a few afters after our beach fun... ouch.

That evening we went to the Turtle Beach Resorts 4th of July celebration. We had great Mexican food and visited with our great friends all under a wonderful fireworks show. We also got these great glasses that enhance the fireworks by like 20 times! They were awesome! I'm keeping mine for next year

Mega Fort

I laughed at this picture posted by my little brother.
Just a small fort at the Collins' place. Good to know the younger siblings are doing a good job keeping my parents busy. That's little miss Courtney in their living room by the way.

Happy Friday.

Chinatown and Makapu'u Lighthouse

Yesterday Cameron and I decided to change up our Saturday routine (beach & surf) and go to Chinatown. Whenever we drive through it we always make a plan to go and yesterday we finally did!
Chinatown is like its own little world down there. It's really neat to see all the different foods and there were some very different smells coming from a few places. They had lots of beautiful produce that I wish a would have been prepared to buy.

We saw a Filipino market and Cameron showed me lots of stuff he had while on his mission in the Philippines. We came across this lady selling Balut. Balut is a duck egg that is formed in the egg but has yet to hatch. Cameron ate these 4-5 times in the mission and wanted me to try so he bought one. Yuck! After seeing him crack the top open and slurp out the juice there was no way I was going to try it.

Look closely, you can see the beak and eyes. In some parts you could see the feathers!
Chinatown was so interesting and I'm looking forward to going down there again.

After, we ran some errands and decided to go do the hike to the Makapu'u Lighthouse.
This was a fun walk to the most adorable red lighthouse. It was great to do it at the end of the day when it wasn't so hot and we had a really nice breeze.

Cameron said he wanted to take me out to dinner (yea!) so we ended the night with yummy curry from Haleiwa Eats.
What an ideal day.

five recent sensations

Riding my pink body board!!! I still call them "boogie boards" but I guess that's not the cool way to say it. I didn't get to go out far with my body board because I still don't have fins and the current was strong. After flipping through one of Cameron's surf magazines the other day, I realized I NEED this for the complete body boarding getup:

Also, Cameron and I had such a great time on Saturday body surfing (me doing accidental cartwheels under water) on the north shore.

brownies for breakfast: the best way to start your day. Cameron makes brownies extra mushy so I like to put them in the fridge over night and eat them in the morning cold. Cold and chewy... yumm.

Air fresheners: I've always been big into scents. Candles, plug-ins, diffuser reeds, whatever. I have an aunt who always had her home smelling perfect and everything in the house smelt like it and I always loved that. I felt extra special tonight when the home teachers commented on how good our house smelt! Of course there are times when my husband can undo it all (maybe after a burrito) but I won't get into that. My favorite scent right now is Febreeze Moroccan Bazaar. I highly suggest it. I have yet to find the plug-ins in the Moroccan scent on the island but I know they exist.

See, read... same thing. Right now I'm starting the book The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. Because I am not in school right now, Jeanne has decided she wants to play school-- Jeanne's the teacher and me the student. Deep down inside Jeanne wishes she was a professor at Princeton or Harvard. This is one of the two books I must read to compare. She has been checking up on me daily to see my status. It's really funny how she loves to do this. It doesn't hurt to read a classic and it's great to see Jeanne enjoy it.

Do you remember the opening song in The Lion King? "Ahhhhh- say- bin yah!..." Well Jeanne's property includes a large rock bluff that protrudes into the ocean and divides us from Pounders beach. There is a man that has lived on the bluff, (no I've never seen him, he's pretty far up there) for quite some time and I guess he's harmless. Well, recently we've been hearing him do these really loud chants! They're hilarious but kind of cool because he's really good at them. They sound something like the Lion King or maybe a Native American chant. Anyhow I laugh every time I hear them but they keep life interesting. Never a dull day on this property.

Happy Father's day to my Dad, Allan, and to Cameron (who will someday be a father in the future, no we're not pregnant).
I couldn't ask for more for a father, a father in law, and husband.

Cameron and I went to the Big Island last week to go to the temple. It was really nice and it was great being there with ward members.
It was neat to see Elder Uchtdorf's message about prayer from the Ensign come to life. When we left Kona it was overcast and drizzling. As we flew higher, we arose above the gloom into a beautiful horizon. Our temple visit definitely gave us a "lift" into the clear horizon.
I'm bummed I really haven't blogged much since our break started! I've been meaning to blog ever day since I've had the time but visitors for 2 weeks and work as left me with very little time to do so.

Hello Summer!

Summer is here.
Summer reminds me of no school, hot days and warm nights, dry feet, spending all day in the sun, eating popsicles for breakfast, juice or Slurpee's during the day, bbq's, finding hours of enjoyment from a hose in your front yard, being barefoot all day, beach, sandy everything, salty hair, staying up a little later, getting darker a little later and non stop bliss.
Although we still have to work, we still feel the fun of summer. The freedom of not having that essay or assignment in the back of your mind.

Here's what we're up to...
I've been having fun using the new camera! We've been spending lots of time at the beach. Here's some surf shots of Cameron.

On the last day of the semester, we celebrated by going to Buca di Beppo and Dave & Busters with the Nelsons and the Flakes!

The prizes:

Cameron got a whistle sucker... he was enjoying it thoroughly.

I've always wanted a dog so I guess my prize covers that. Cameron won me this pup and I named her Pucci (pronounced "Poochy"-- like the brand). She's pretty annoying.

Erin got this one of a kind fan! Go Athletics??

Aaron won a DNA strand, aka: Nerds rope.

For the last week we have had the pleasure of our friends Jason and Dulce staying with us. Dulce does Polynesian dancing and decided to give the guys a few lessons.
Jason...

Cameron...
Align Center
The guys stopped after the poi balls were swinging into the wrong places. ouch. We've had fun with Jason and Dulce and we're happy they chose to come visit us!
