catalina island part II

After two days of beautiful camping, we boarded another crazy bus ride and made it to Avalon, the little city on Catalina Island. It was just as I remembered, such a quaint little town and everything miniature within. There aren't even cars, just golf carts- they fill the streets parked in front of little houses. As a child, I loved how much freedom our parents would give us to roam the little city. It was just the same, just as I remembered. We filled the following days with the beach, snorkeling, golf cart riding, eating ice cream treats and frozen bananas, and celebrating my beautiful mama's birthday. The trip was so much fun. It was easy, relaxing, not too far to travel, and wonderful to be with my family.

we have fun together

This morning as Cameron was getting ready for work, I said to Krew, "Do you want to do something today? Do you want to get out today?"
Cameron laughed and said, "You act like you guys haven't gone out and done anything this week." I laughed because I realized how silly this sounded after this very eventful week we have had so far. We've spent lots of time at the beach, had warm summer night barbeques with our families, went to Disneyland (we couldn't keep away for too long), played at Cameron's work party on the beach, and welcomed my cousin Kate home from her mission last night. This photo is little Krew and I before the celebration last night and I wish someone would have told me to change my shirt-- it's looking and little weird but I guess that's what I get for not having a full-length mirror. Krew and I always have so much fun together-- it's really awesome having a little playmate. And we especially have fun with the man behind the iPhone, Cameron. Can't wait for him to start the weekend.

Happy Friday!
We've got a summer wedding this weekend and hopefully some beach time! I am loving these hot summer days... keep them coming.
And don't forget... when in doubt, over dress. :)

catalina island part I

As much as we wanted Cameron (dad) to come with us to Catalina Island, he had to go back to work. The second we arrived home from mammoth pools, I was unpacking, washing all our stuff, and repacking again. We had less than 12 hours from the time we got home to get on our 5 a.m. boat! Needless to say, I didn't sleep much.
Krew and I tiredly boarded the boat with the rest of my family and off to Catalina we went. The first thing I notice was the water. Although not too far from Long Beach, the water is much clearer over in Catalina. We got off the boat at Two Harbors, the more rural part of the island. For the first two days of the trip, we had decided to camp! Like we hadn't gotten enough camping for the last 8 days ;). The camping is waaaay different though. This was beach camping with wide-open spaces and grazing buffalo! We took the craziest Catalina safari bus ride over to the campsite (I still have vivid memories of taking this bus as a child, it is slightly scary). The beaches over on this side look like what you would imagine a California beach that was never touched. It was beautiful and peaceful and we had all of the time in the world to play, surf little waves, eat, and have bonfires at night.
And surprisingly after all this camping, I still wasn't even sick of camping.
Next up, we venture into the city of Avalon on Catalina Island...

i'm a proud sister

Yes I am! And tonight my brother is having a show and is releasing a new CD! If you're in the San Diego area, please come and see him!
How good is this song?! Ok, I'm slightly biased but give it a listen!

personality test

an oldie but a goodie

Last night Cameron thought it would be interesting to take a personality test online. I didn't think much of it and kept with my friendship bracelet I was making. After he completed it, he started reading the results: interesting facts about his personality, his strengths and weaknesses with his specific personality. I couldn't believe how dead on it was! I was actually laughing because I didn't know anyone else knew Cameron as well as I did! It figured him out almost dead on!
After he finished reading his, I was dying to see what I was! I did the test and was once again laughing at my results! How did they know me so well?! I found this little test more thrilling than Cameron did. I was googling info/facts about my personality type. It was super interesting. It even talked about my personality type as a mother and spouse.

We took the MBTI (four-part test) personality test here, but then we took our specific "type" and googled more about it (since this site doesn't give you too much).

p.s. I'm a ENFP, What are you?

Have you ever taken a personality type test? Did you think the results were right?

mammoth pools

Nothing felt better than to be up in the mountains with fresh air and tall trees. We were constantly in the lake, the rivers, in some kind of water. I loved it all: the bonfires, our makeshift camp shower, stars and glow sticks at dark. All of Cameron's extended family was there. I really lucked out on the whole in-laws and extended family in-laws thing. They are such an awesome bunch and even after 8 days, we weren't even sick of each other. ;)

As for our little family, Krew collected every plastic pellet he could find in the dirt -"ball!". Cameron and I enjoyed WARM lake water and smooth glass in the mornings that made for some awesome wake boarding sesh. Krew was always in dirt. It got to the point of why shower?? Cameron and I enjoyed relaxing by the lake, swimming, reading books in the hammock and simply enjoying everyone's company.

p.s. my bathing suit is from Tilly's.

from one to the next

For the last eight days we have been camping in the most beautiful mountains with our wonderful family. I'm looking at myself right now wondering if I really do have a good tan or could it just be a layer of dirt on my skin?? Probably the second. Going camping was such a mind-clearing trip. I was dreading that it would be more of a pain but the second we drove up through the beautiful trees... well, it was bliss. Dirt and all.
And although we returned home at 6 pm tonight, I am washing all of our stuff and repacking it for a trip at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. We'll be heading off to a little island not too far from home.
I can't wait to post all the photos to come!
