hellooooo....

So I haven't updated this in a bit.
We've both been busy with work and school stuff. We absolutely loved watching general conference (a little hard to wake up at 6 a.m.).All the talks were so motivating and it was interesting what everyone talked about in these unsure times.
Last week, my brother Brad and his wife Ashley just lost their first baby at almost six months along. For some reason her body went into early labor. So sad. They both were so excited for a baby. Because the baby was so far along, they have to do a burial for the baby girl today. I feel so helpless way out here. Well I hear their doing much better which is great. They're in our prayers and we love them both.

Here are some pics of what we've been doing in the last week or so:
At the Zoo with friends!
Aaron's Toga b-day party:

And playing games with the Nelson's at Chuck E. Cheese: Erin vs. Aaron

And our awesome prizes we won.

24 hr. make-over

Last Wednesday, Cameron traveled to San Diego to visit his family, attend his brother Chase's farewell and his nephew Trey's baby blessing. Cameron is there till Tuesday so that leaves me here alone. I invited my newly engaged friend Kate over to stay with me in the meantime (Her fiance is out of town too!). So Kate and I have had some great girls time.

Now if Cameron is reading this, don't. Unless you don't want a surprise on Tuesday.

So while Cameron has been gone,

(Cameron don't look at the blog even though you probably won't check it)

I decided to play room make-over while he's gone!

Since living here, Cameron has adored having an office. Cameron likes to have close to silence while he studies and the office is a perfect place he can close himself into. We thought about painting it a while ago but never got around to it. He said he wanted very "happy" colors so that's what I did.

So yesterday I hit downtown, bought my supplies and did a room makeover.

Okay so here is the room before: (I realized as I started taping that I should do before and after shots) Ya it was really unorganized before as well.ya... gross.
So I got some ideas and BAM!
Here's the after:
Happy enough?

Pat on the back for me. :)

the bedroom's tomorrow!

The Call!

So my brother Jeff got his mission call!!
He is serving in Cuernavaca, Mexico!!
It's a little south of Mexico City. He'll be speaking Spanish (obviously) and serving the people there for two years. I'm so proud and excited for him!

He leaves January 21st but in the mean time he's saving up for the mission by selling his CD's!

Please check out his stuff and tell your friends, buy a cd for yourself or as Christmas gift to someone you think may like it.
His CD is now sold online and he has a blog!
Please listen to it and check it out!

Fall official starts in a week...

I love fall!
Fall has a fresh feeling to it.

School starts! Even though we didn't get new outfits for our first day of school (which I look forward to so much), Cameron and I (I'm online) have both started the semester. New courses, teachers, and classmates. You're motivated to do better and you've got new school supplies to do it.

Fall in Hawaii isn't the same for a couple reasons. The weather is has little to no change. I love when the air gets a little cooler and crisper, the leaves begin to fall and it's boots and sweater weather.
Because there's no weather change, we can't wear fall clothes! Well, I guess I could but then I would be sweating the whole day through. I love the fall fashions and I miss them.
But I'm living in wonderful Hawaii so I can't complain.

Also with fall comes Halloween!! I love Halloween!! It's probably next to Christmas for me. I love the costumes, candy, and parties! I can't wait to throw a Halloween party! I asked Cameron the other day what we should be for Halloween and these were his suggestions: Abraham Lincoln and his wife.... Bill and Hillary Clinton... Palin and Obama (he suggested we could yell at each other all night)...haha... and the strange political suggestions went on. Haha... he was cracking me up.
And then after Halloween follows all the other wonderful holidays.

There's just something extremely charming about Fall.

The Proposal 9/8/07

I was thinking today while getting the grandparents on their way back to San Diego, working with Jeanne, and cleaning up our house... wow... it's been one year since Cameron and I got engaged. Time really really flies! On 9/8/07, Cameron Rondo set up the most wonderful and personal proposal. Now I'm writing this not too bore you but for my own records as well.

About five years ago, Cameron and I were set up by a mutual friend (Hayley Crickmore) on a blind group date after I had just turned 16. We met at Rollerskateland (which is no longer there) and the rest was history.
Four Years later...
So the day that Cameron proposed, I was just coming back from doing some wedding dress shopping with my mom (obviously Cameron and I had discussed it previous to the proposal) and Cameron had asked me to save from 2 p.m. to 10p.m. for him. I honestly didn't know he was setting it up because we only went ring shopping three days before and I was leaving for school the next day! He had already bought a plane ticket to see me the first week of October at BYU-I so I thought for sure that would be when he proposes. But just in case... I got a new outfit and got dolled up for this nice date that he was planning.
Cameron arrived at my house in a nice shirt (there's a clue) and his mom's nice car (there's another clue!) but he was soooo calm. I thought for sure that Cameron would be reallllly nervous if he were proposing to me that night. He didn't tell me where we were going and then we headed off.
The first stop was a rollerskate rink (like where we met). There was hardly anyone there so we had a blast rollerskating for an hour or so and being our goofy selves. It was our first date over again.
The second stop was George's at the Cove, a wonderful restaurant in La Jolla that overlooks the cove. It was still sunny outside and we dinned out on the balcony. Cameron had the halibut and I had I think shrimp. We had a wonderful time talking and STILL Cameron showed no signs of being nervous. I then just thought this was a really really nice date he was taking me on before I went back up to Idaho. Over dinner, I told Cameron that I was really bummed that I didn't get to go to the beach on my last day in California. He then suggested that we went over to WindnSea Beach (my all-time favorite beach) and hang around there for a bit. Little did I know... I only helped the plan. Cameron didn't order dessert after dinner which I thought was a little fishy and unsual for Cameron.
So we headed to WindnSea Beach. The sun was almost setting and Cameron suggested that we went to look at the tide pools. I agreed and off we went. As we were walking, there were coves that were only open to the ocean and so we were kind of glancing in each one when I came across one that was so romantically decorated! It had a blanket down, candles everywhere, chilled milk in an ice bucket, a low table with my favorite desserts from Extraordinary Desserts, Roses, the whole thing. It was beautiful. I was in awe and now I was pretty sure of what came next. We sat down and starting eating the desserts when Cameron said that he wanted to wait for a second and read something to me. He reached under the low table and pulled out his journal. He began to read me snipits of journal entrees that he had from the time we first met, dating, and then he ended with right before his mission. The last one he read me was how much he loved me and cherished me before his mission. He closed the journal (of course I'm balling at this point) and told me that he felt that same way now and more. He took out the ring from underneath the table, got down on his knee, said some wonderful words and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! And Allan (Cameron's dad) came down and took some pictures for us. We sat there together so happy and watched the sun go down.

Amazing right? It couldn't have been more perfect or more personal. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

The joys of visitors!

I love having grandma and grandpa here! They're such a treat and are so helpful and fun to be around. Don't get me wrong I love Hawaii but I can't wait for the day when we move back to where all of our family is. It's so nice having family around. My grandparents are so hip and cute.
Tonight I think we're taking them to the wonderful Haliewa Eats for some delicious Thai food and then Aloha Stadium in the morning.

Work has been work. Jeanne continues to entertain me. Right now I can hear her chanting in the other room Lets go Mets! Lets go Mets! as loud as she possibly can (and that's loud). She has dark sheets right now and together we shook them out because her bed skin was all over them. I closed my lips tight praying that the bed skin would not stick to my chapstick. Sick. She also called me a prude today for not wanting to watch an R movie with her. Never would I have thought I would be called a prude by a 75 yr-old woman!!! It should be the other way right? haha...

Cameron has been busy with school and the surf is slowly coming back on our side of the island. His ankle is great! We've been blessed with an extremely quick recovery! Last week it hurt to surf and now he's fine! :) Cameron has such great self-discipline to do his homework. I really admire him for that and for many other great qualities.

Monday I start a few online classes... fun fun fun.

What a boring pictureless post. I can't stand not posting pictures. I apoligize to all those who read this.

a quick game of catch-up

I can't sleep right now at all!

Grandpa Norris and Grandma Cordy are coming tomorrow! It's their 47th Anniversary and they wanted to come out here and see us!
gosh they're a dang good lookin' couple.
:)
Here's one of our two guest rooms I cleaned up for them to stay in...
Since I haven't posted for the last week or so here's what's happening... (if you care)

My dear friend Jessi came out to Hawaii and I loved every minute of it. I'm trying to persuade her to return and stay here but we'll see. One night we went on a date to Haliewa Eats...Jessi is my dear dear dear friend. She is so down to earth and such a good friend to have a good laugh with.

Last Sunday we had Yuzo, Mino, and Michelle over for dinner. They cooked some Japanese food and we did our favorite family dish. Michelle and Mino are my visiting teachers. Mino doesn't speak English so Michelle translates. I always get teary-eyed during our lessons because I think it is so amazing that the gospel is so exact in every land and language. They are both wonderful girls.

Last Thursday, Jeanne decided that we would drive around the whole island for fun! Haha... I haven't been to the west side much so she wanted to show me around. We started off with breakfast at Turtle Bay, Palm Terrace and then headed off on our journey. It was long but we had some great convos and we stopped at Roy's at the Marriott for some afternoon appetizers and drinks. Then we got Starbucks ( the usual) and headed home. She's such a hoot and always up for a good adventure of getting lost.

Friday, Cameron had the great idea of going on a date to Glow Put and dinner! This is miniature golf glow-in-the-dark style! We decided that winner got a long massage and Cameron beat me fair and square. After, we grabbed some dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and headed back home. We remembered that all of our single friends were going to school dance so we went! It was so much fun! We love to dance and we haven't really had the chance to since our reception.
My cute hubby. The proud winner of glow put.

Then today, Labor Day, Cameron and I had some peeps over for a bbq. It was great and was fun to see Jeanne there. Thanks all who came! It was great seeing the Willardson sisters. They're on vacation and i haven't seen them since our reception! The oldest was married to her sweetheart one year ago and then lost him six months ago. His diabetes suddenly went bad and he passed away. She is such a strong woman and I can't imagine what she has gone through. It was so good to see her and see that she is doing well. She is truly an amazing example to me. She advised me to never get upset but just to serve your spouse because you'll never know when they need to go. Her husband was an awesome guy and I'm sure is needed elsewhere for the time being.

It was great being surrounded by friends on our day off!

With all that out, goodnight!

Poor Cameron. He's usual so active and always doing something and now he can barely walk. But I guess he can do hopscotch. We were on our way to the Surf Sample Sale (which wasn't worth going to) and he found this.

Luckily the Olympics are on right as Cameron gets injured so we've watched so many of the events! I'm so amazed by the abilities and endurance of the athletes.

I was thinking about it today, my job is so perfect for me. I absolutely love going out but instead of it being on me, it's all on Jeanne. Going out to eat every Tuesday and Thursday with her is such a treat. We go to some of the nicest places in Honolulu and just eat together as friends. After that we go shopping and sometimes to a movie, we get dessert on the way home and then I do all her grocery shopping for her. It's really ideal. Jeanne is such a generous person/friend/boss and she's a hoot. Tomorrow it's lunch at Sam Choy's... yumm...

We're in the middle of painting right now!! Can't wait till it's done! :)

what a lucky guy...

oh what a week we've had!

So first off... on Saturday afternoon, Cameron had just finished eating the hamburger I made him and offered to clean the dishes. I told him thanks but I would do it. Cameron then suggested that he should finish cleaning our windows on our second story and I thought that was a good idea. When he was up there, I told him he was scaring me and I was not going to look. I went to my desk to do something at my computer when all the sudden I hear, "Whoa... whoa... WHOA!! LINDSAY!" The ladder he was on had slipped from underneath him and down Cameron went too. I looked out the window to find Cameron lying on his back on the ground with the ladder fallen next to him. I instantly thought he had broken his back but found him to only be holding his foot. We got in the car and headed to Kahuku Hospital. The nurses were surprised to only see an injured foot after falling from the second story window and said he was really lucky. It turns out that the only thing that happened was a very sprained ankle.
What a blessing! We were just hoping for a clean break but only a sprain! Cameron was very blessed and we were so thankful that he was safe.
Yes, his sprain has been a huge nuisance but came at a good time with finals.
This is our house...
Cameron fell from our second story window!

Well before the fall, on Friday night Cameron set up a nice date for the two of us. We've both been craving garlic shrimp from the little shacks on the road so that's what we did! We were the last people at Giovanni's and we didn't get very much shrimp but it was so good! Cameron and I took our dinner of coconut rice (thanks Rachele for the recipe...delish!), garlic rice and shrimp and headed to Sunset beach. We were having a perfect time until it started pouring! We quickly ran to the car to eat in there. I put our food on the dashboard but... opps! It slipped off. I tried to catch it but it didn't really work.
So... off to Ted's Bakery where we filled up on chocolate eclairs. We got a movie, tried malasadas, and stayed out of the rain. Cameron's date was perfect and he was so thoughtful to plan it all out even if it didn't go as planned.
I love my wonderful husband.
And I love taking care of him while he's recovering from his fall.

Also, Jeanne and I went to lunch at Inspiration down in Honolulu. Yes, it is an amazing furniture store but there's also an amazing restaurant up top! The food was great, kind of pricey, but if you want to feel like your dining at a trendy New York restaurant with a view of the city, go here! I had an excellent spinach Cesar salad with bacon and radishes and a steak sandwich with aioli sauce that was to die for. :)

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Ewww... I do not like big breakfasts. I just had a huge one and now I remember that I feel like a slug all day when I eat that much in the morning.

The mustache is off! Cameron shaved it off the other night and boy does he look so nice clean shaven! :) This is Cameron (with his eyes closed) eating at Costco the other day. Berry Sundaes from Costco are divine.

Saturday night Cameron and I went to Macy's to pick out Mama Collins a birthday gift. While I was picking out the perfect thing, Cameron and I look over to see a guy holding a girl in a head-lock forcing her through the store. At first we thought that they were kidding but realized the girl was crying and her friend was yelling. A female store associate went after the the two and so did Cameron. The weirdo guy finally let the girl out of the head-lock but then grabbed the female sales associate by the neck. Cameron pushed the guy a few times, yelled at him, and weirdo guy finally decided he should stop and just walk away. Kind of scary to see this all go down but I'm glad everyone came out safe from it. And hopefully the cops got a hold of the weirdo guy.

Thank heaven today is Thursday! Working over 40 hour weeks is tough even if it's not the most strenuous work. Oh and if you are in the mood for some really good food in Kailua, go to Formaggios! It's quite a hip place and the food is AMAZING! It reminded me of a restaurant that would be in San Diego. Don't be surprised though when your check for two comes to a total of $65 or more. And all sides are extra (none come with dinner). They are open till 1 p.m. on the weekends with live entertainment. Both Jeanne and I loved it. The Lobster Bisque is to DIE for!

read it!

An email Cameron shared with me today that I think is clever, interesting, and touching.

A Message by George Carlin:

"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but na rrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

"We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, get up to o tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

"We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

"We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

"We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

"These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and sm a ll character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

"Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

'Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

"Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only t r easur e you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

"Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

"Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

"Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

"AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
